Est. 2002 · New Orleans, Louisiana
A curated retail experience on North Claiborne Avenue, where the city's restless creativity meets goods you won't find anywhere else.
Our Story
House of Calamity opened its doors in 2002 on North Claiborne Avenue — a street that has always been one of New Orleans's most honest corridors. We weren't trying to chase trends. We were trying to build something that reflected the city itself: layered, unapologetic, and quietly beautiful.
Over two decades later, we still curate every piece by hand. Every object in this shop has a story, and we'd rather tell it to you in person than write it into a catalog.
What We Carry
Each season we refresh our inventory by hand — no algorithms, no drop-shipping, just genuine goods that feel right for this city.
Small-batch clothing, locally sourced fabrics, and pieces that hold up to New Orleans heat and humidity.
Ceramics, candles, and found objects selected for their craft and character — not their mass appeal.
Titles from local presses, art books, and cultural objects that reflect the intellectual pulse of the city.
Jewelry, bags, and personal objects — the kind of things that make a room feel like a home.
Our inventory changes continuously. Visit the shop or reach out to ask about what's currently on the floor.
